The exports of the Amman Chamber of Industry during the first half of this year reached 3.392 billion dinars, compared to 3.475 billion dinars for the same period last year 2023.
Six sectors recorded an increase in their exports, ranging from 2.1 percent for leather and textiles industries to 30.8 percent for the plastic and rubber industries sector. On the other hand, exports of the remaining four industrial sectors decreased by a percentage ranging between 0.2 percent for food, agricultural, and livestock industries, and 32.3 percent for mining industries.
Four Arab and foreign countries accounted for more than half of the Chamber's exports during the first half of this year: India, the United States of America, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq, recording a value of 2.190 billion dinars.
According to statistical data, the Chamber's exports to the United States of America increased by 71 percent during the first half of this year, reaching about 941 million dinars, compared to 550 million dinars for the same period last year, making it the top Arab and foreign country receiving Amman's industrial exports.
The Chamber's exports to Iraq also increased during the first half of this year by 9 percent, recording a value of 440 million dinars, compared to 403 million dinars during the same period last year 2023.
On the other hand, Amman's industrial exports to Saudi Arabia decreased by 7 percent during the first half of this year, dropping to about 389 million dinars compared to 418 million dinars for the same period last year.
The Chamber's exports to India also declined during the first half of this year by 33.6 percent, dropping to about 420 million dinars compared to 632 million dinars for the same period last year.
According to the geographical distribution of the Chamber's exports during the first half of this year 2024, Arab countries came first with a value of 1.467 billion dinars, followed by non-Arab Asian countries at 621 million dinars, and African countries at about 17 million dinars.
Amman's industrial exports to North American countries during the first half of this year amounted to 959 million dinars, South American countries about 36 million dinars, European Union countries 171 million dinars, non-EU European countries about 70 million dinars, and other countries at a value of 51 million dinars.
The Chamber's exports during the first half of this year were distributed across sectors: chemical industries and cosmetics at about 878 million dinars, mining at 689 million dinars, engineering, electrical, and information technology at 522 million dinars.
According to statistical data, exports of food, agricultural, and livestock industries sectors amounted to about 384 million dinars, therapeutic and medical supplies 343 million dinars, and leather and textiles 231 million dinars.
The rest of Amman's industrial exports during the first half of this year were distributed across plastic and rubber industries sectors at a value of 149 million dinars, packaging, paper, cardboard, and office supplies at 133 million dinars, construction at about 54 million dinars, and wood and furniture industries at a value of 10 million dinars.
