The Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Engineer Yaareb Al-Qudah, along with the Chairman of the Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee, MP Khaled Abu Hassan, the Chairman of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Engineer Fathi Al-Jaghbeer, and several representatives from various economic sectors, inspected the operations at the Jaber Border Crossing and the Jordan-Syria Joint Free Zone.
The visit aimed to follow up on the measures taken to expedite the entry of trucks and goods into Syria. The minister emphasized that the government, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, is working to provide the necessary support to the Syrian people and meet their needs for goods. He also mentioned the implementation of several measures to facilitate the flow of goods into Syrian territory, including those coming from other countries.
Minister Al-Qudah clarified that approximately 500 trucks crossed from Jordan to Syria during the past three days, while about 150 Syrian trucks crossed to other countries via Jordanian territory during the same period. He added that more than 200 trucks loaded with goods are expected to cross into Syria today through the Jaber Border Crossing and the joint free zone.
The minister confirmed that a task force has been set up to facilitate operations at the border center, ensuring that trade continues smoothly and without obstacles. This reflects Jordan's commitment to strengthening trade relations with Syria and supporting economic stability in the region.
Earlier, Engineer Fathi Al-Jaghbeer announced the resumption of operations at the Jaber border crossing between Jordan and Syria through the "Back to Back" system, which allows Jordanian industrial companies to send their goods to the Syrian market.
Al-Jaghbeer also explained that Syrian authorities had issued new decisions to cancel all types of fees and stamps that were previously paid, which facilitates the movement of goods and enhances commercial cooperation between the two countries.
