The Chairman of Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Engineer Fathi Al-Jughbeer, said that the government's approach confirms its pursuit to reduce the burdens faced by the industrial sector and the private sector in general, which reflects a clear commitment to improving the business environment and enhancing industrialists' ability to face challenges.
Al-Jughbeer praised the Cabinet's decision to exempt those involved in customs cases discovered or organized with customs seizures before December 31, 2019, from fines up to 90%.
He emphasized that this decision is a positive and important step in supporting the industrial sector, enhances company liquidity, and helps reduce financial burdens that could hinder growth and expansion.
Al-Jughbeer views this decision as an important opportunity for industrial institutions to improve their financial performance and redirect resources towards increasing productivity and expansion in foreign markets, which will enhance the competitiveness of their products at regional and international levels. He noted that reducing customs burdens helps improve companies' cash flows, allowing them to better invest in improving product quality and increasing operational capacity.
Al-Jughbeer stressed the need for industrialists to benefit from this exemption and take the initiative to finalize their customs files if they have pending cases before the end of 2019. He emphasized that this opportunity should not be missed, as the exemption from fines of up to 90% represents a significant opportunity to reduce financial burdens and improve their legal status, allowing them to focus on developing their business and expanding activities without additional pressure.
He added that taking advantage of these facilities will help companies better organize their financial and administrative situations and enhance their stability and sustainability in the market.
In parallel, he called on the government to continue this approach by exempting companies from income and sales tax penalties, as these fines constitute a significant burden on medium and small companies and limit their ability to develop and grow. He confirmed that reducing these fines will enhance companies' ability to face economic challenges.
He emphasized that supportive government decisions, such as these exemptions, directly contribute to improving the investment environment in Jordan, support the stability of the industrial sector, and help create new job opportunities, which positively reflects on the national economy as a whole.
